What's New?
After a couple of years back at home, David and I
signed up for another contract working in Antarctica -
our 6th season down here. It is a gloriously
beautiful environment, even if sittng at a computer
all day is a little mundane. David, on the other
hand, is flying up to mountaintops to set up
repeaters! Well, at least I'm warm.
We get off the ice in February and look forward to
some travel in New Zealand, Australia and the South
Pacific before heading home.

Got Married to Debbie in 1976, we recently celebrated
our 30th Anniversary. Moved to Oregon in 1980.
Working as an Engineering Manager after a long (35
years) carreer as an Electronics Engineer in the high
techindustry. Have three boys Jarrid, Brandon and Ian,
born 1980, 83 and 85. Hobby is building and driving
fast cars on race tracks up and down the west coast.
Run a High Performance Drivers Ed program for our Car

working in TV and Movies in New Orleans, LA and

Brandon, Musician and Composer. Lives in SE Portland,

area, works at a resturant to help with the bills.
Ian, Graduated from Universal Technical Institute in
Phoenix and works as a car machanic maintaining and
building street and race cars in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
I have recently started jamming with a few friends on
my Bass Guitar. Yes the same Gibson EB3 and Sunn 200S
that I used in High School.

Went into the Army with Darrell Martin in Oct.
of '72. Spent 1 1/2 yrs in Washington near Tacoma,
then had a great 2 1/2 years in Stuttgart, Germany
playing with tanks. Decided that I'd had enough fun
and went back to Foothill to start a degree in Psych.
There I met Cheryl Sampson (Cubberly '75). We've
been married 30yrs, same house (with modifications)
for 28yrs, have 3 kids, 3 fish and 2 cats. I've been
working in the automotive field for the last 25 years
(Psych comes in handy still!).
Involved in church and clubs and anything to do
with cars, motorcycles and sailing! E-mail for a

finishing up at SJSU. I got into the computer business
about 20 years ago, and have been at some form of it
pretty much ever since. I work in web design and online
marketing. My wife Jeryl of 25 years and I moved to
Arnold in the Foothills in 1994 and now live in
Murphys. We have 2 boys and a girl 25,

School 1978.

First job was Asst. Director of an environmental
education center and resident summer camp in the
Malibu mountains. Had a lot of fun for 8 years.
Married in 1982. Changed careers and went to work for
Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A. Inc.in 1985. Divorced in
2002. Moved over to the Lexus in 1997 as the Lexus
Dealer Facility Design Manager and still here.

Two awesome kids 20 and 17 years old. Live in
Huntington Beach, CA.

Have been doing Triathlons for 3 yrs now and road
cycling.

Since graduation,I have been a Marine,a winery worker
for Paul Masson, a Customer Support Engineer for HP,
and in high tech sales for over 20 years. Last year I
graduated from the University of Maryland with an MS
in Environmental Management. I guess it is time to do
that mid-life career change thing while still using my
long sales background.

This past month I retired from my part-time job as a
member of the 129th Rescue Wing at Moffett Field.

I still see some old friends from Awalt-Paul Dellwo,
Kevin Bury, Bill Thompson, Geoff Miller, Mike Tubbs,
and Pete Sferra.

I am married with one daughter-Caroline 16 years old
(Class of 2010 Homestead).

After getting to work in 1972, I saved money and
moved to Arnold in 1973, and stayed in the Calaveras
County area as much as possible until 1-1-2000.
Worked, tried school a few times (Foothill, Columbia,
Delta and Finally Fresno State), graduating in 1982
with a BS in Surveying and Photogrammetry. The
economy hit hard, so joined the Navy in 1982, and am
still in the reserves. Got married in 1978 and
separated on 1-1-2000 (hence the departure from
Calaveras County - town is not big enough for both of
us) as my job had been in Walnut Creek since 1992.
Navy life has been good - Active Duty until 1989
stationed in Barstow, CA; Keflavik, Iceland; Puerto
Rico and Okinawa. Switched to reserves in 1989 and
got a 6 month all expense vacation starting in
January 1991 to Saudi Arabia to the front lines of
Desert Storm. Returned unscathed and resumed duties
in the reserves. Stayed there until October 2003
when I got another 6 month all expense vacation on
board a ship stationed in Yokosuka and got to see
southeast Asia. Returned to my pre-mobilization
civilian job in July 2004, and am still working in
Walnut Creek. Married again in October 2003 to Beth
and we are residing in Livermore with her three
children. My son lives with his mom in Angels Camp
until he heads off to university next year. So, the
current ages are 20, 18, 16, & 14, first three boys
and the last a girl. Drop a line and maybe we can
head out on the delta on our 36' houseboat.

Currently living in Boston and married to a
local firefighter in Massachusetts. We have been
married for 28 years, three kids, 25, 24 and 21 years
of age. Oldest son just transferred to San Jose with
PTC living within a few miles of my family in Los
Altos. I live in a small suburb called Medfield,
about 20 minutes outside of Boston. Working at local
hospital as the Physician Liaison for the Radiology
Department.

Back in Mountain View since 1999 after a 25 year
absence… Pursued a career as a freelance professional
musician in the Los Angeles movie/recording scene for
over 20 years… Opportunities to work as a trombonist
with some of the best musicians in the world, backing
many well-known acts & playing with great jazz
groups, and going on and off the road with people
like Mel Torme, Harry James, Peter Nero, Bill
Watrous, etc. Studied composing and taught classes at
a professional music school, the Dick Grove School,
where I met my future wife, Carolyn (a marvelous
musician); we married in 1988 and have two wonderful
children, Allison (15, a sophomore at MVHS-aka-
”Awalt”) and Brian (11)… Finally deciding that
teaching music was my true calling, earned Masters
degree in Jazz Studies from USC in ’95, then ran a
college instrumental program in Iowa (!) for 4 years
before returning to MV. Currently directing the
Daddios jazz bands at De Anza College along with an
assortment of teaching, adjudicating and clinician
assignments, and still keeping my hand in writing
music. Being husband and dad, though, are still my
most satisfying activities!

What's New?
After graduating from Awalt, I attended Foothill JC
for two years. In 1974, I transferred to the
University of Nevada Reno, where I currently am
employed at the Cooperative Extension. I have been
married 25 years, and have one son, Jeff, age 20. I
have kept in touch with many of my classmates, whose
friendship I will always cherish. I am looking
forward to seeing all of you at this year's picnic.

What's New?
Married Patty Munro in 1976. In the mean time, have
lived in places from Portland to Panama, and Brook
Trails to Baltimore. 4 kids, 2 dogs, 3 cats, 2 rabbits
and a frog. Pastor of a Lutheran Church in LA. Still
play rock n' roll and ride motorcycles. I root for the
Dodgers just to annoy friends who are Giants fans, and
cross picket lines just to tweek the union nuts! Life
in LA is good . . . when we're not dodging bullets . .
. or sweltering . . . or stuck in a freeway parking lot
. . . or breathing smog . . . OK! Life is tolerable.

What's New?
In 1978 I married Paula Carskadon, class of 74. We
have two sons, one is an engineer at Cisco Systems and
one is a senior at Cal Poly Pomona. We live
off Covington in Los Altos. I have been in real estate
lending for over 30 years, the last seventeen in Los
Altos. My brother Mark class of '71 passed away in
2007. My sister Ann class of '73 is doing well and has
three daughters and five grandchildren. Hope all you
Awalt Alumi are doing well also.

What's New?
Nice to find this alum list. Some friends are here, but
where are the rest? And who are all these other people?
I have been living and working in Alaska for more than
20 years as a geologist for a large oil company. I went
to UC Santa Cruz & Cornell, married a fellow grad
student, have 2 kids (now 25 & 22). We do a lot of
fishing, canoeing, & sailing in the summer, and skiing
& skating & complaining about the weather in the
winter. We recently paid our first visit back to the
bay area in 20 years--wow, crowded! Alaska has
problems, but they're quite different! Drop a line if
you're in the neighborhood.

What's New?
I have a bachelor and masters degree in Biostatistics
from UC Berkeley. Right after college, I was hired by
the American Medical Association in Chicago and lived
there for 21 years. I have been married 18 years and
have two stepchildren and a 13 year old. We have been
living on the Monterey Peninsula for the past five
years. I switched careers and I am now teach high
school math at Carmel High School. I love living here
and hope to be here forever.
